18-year-old girl raped by 21-year-old boy for 4 years
Chandigarh, Mohali | An awful criminal incident has come into the limelight lately, where an 18- years old girl based in Mohali filed a complaint against a 21-year boy for raping her for the past four years.
The boy is now booked for assaulting the victim sexually on the pretext of friendship and then blackmailing her with her nude pictures.
As per the complaint filed by the victim, the girl and the boy met each other in school where they studied together. The victim was then 14 years old and had become friends with the accused. One day, when the boy was alone at his place, he invited the girl and had a physical relationship with her.
It was the first incident when the boy clicked her nude pictures without her consent and awareness. Thereafter, he started blackmailing the girl by threatening to leak out her private pictures on the internet. Not only this, he blackmailed her for money and took the undue advantage of her helplessness by raping her for four long years.
The rape case of Mohali then came into light when almost a month ago, the victim had stopped taking the phone calls from the accused and had blocked her mobile number. It was in frustration, the accused sent the objectionable images of the victim to her mother.
On inquiring by the mother, the girl narrated the entire story of the breach of her modesty and the blackmailing thing. Girl’s mother decided to lodge a FIR against him. It was after this that the mother and her victim daughter filed a legal complaint against the accused.
The accused who is booked for the criminal offence of raping and blackmailing a girl of Mohali for four years currently works with a private company. He has not been arrested yet but will now be pressed with relevant sections of the IT Act after the thorough investigation is done in the case.
A little bit of awareness and vigilant nature can help anyone from falling prey into the hands of such scavengers of the society. An initiative to interact with teenagers about sex education should be implemented by the government via organizing workshops in schools for both students and their parents, to curb down the menace of such types of crime across the country.
