GHAZIABAD: A 20-year-old man, accused of raping a two-year-old girl in 2015 and now out on bail, was arrested again on Friday, this time for sexually assaulting a five-year-old child, his neighbour's daughter.
Ankit, the police said, lured his latest target with the promise of chocolates to a vacant flat in the neighbourhood, in Ghaziabad's Masuri area, and raped her.
He has been charged under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the same counts he was booked for in 2015.
The girl lives with her family in a rented accommodation. Her father, a mason, said, "On Thursday night, my daughter suddenly disappeared while playing outside her house and all attempts to trace her proved futile. Later, a woman in our neighbourhood informed us that my daughter was lying unconscious in a vacant plot adjacent to a school. We took her to a private hospital where we were told that she has been sexually assaulted following which we informed the police."
"When my daughter regained consciousness she narrated her ordeal and named the boy from our neighbourhood who lured her by promising a chocolate and then sexually assaulted her," her father said.
The police nabbed the accused and brought him in front of the child. "Seeing the accused, she started crying and when we questioned the youth he admitted to his crime," said Dinesh Yadav, SHO, Masuri police station. "Ankit, who lives with his grandparents in the area, is a serial sex offender. He was arrested in 2015 on charges of rape and is currently out on bail."
Ankit, Yadav added, was released on bail just one and a half months ago.
"When we sifted through his crime record we came to know that on October 2, 2015, he had sexually assaulted a two-year-old girl in the same locality," Yadav said.
