LUDHIANA: A day after a woman was arrested for criminal conspiracy and her two friends for gang-rape of her minor daughter, the police on Wednesday told the court that the duo had been raping the girl for the past five months and got her three-month-old foetus aborted at a private hospital a few months ago.
Police on Tuesday had arrested the woman and her two friends after she drugged her 16-year-old daughter and the duo took turns to rape her.
Investigating officer assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Randhir Singh said, "The accused were produced in the Jagraon court of judicial magistrate (first class) Shaminder Pal Singh, who sent them to two-day police remand. During investigation, it came to light that the accused had been raping the girl for more than five months."
"Her medical examination showed that her three-month-old foetus had been aborted. We sought the accused's police remand to find out when and where they made her undergo abortion. Legal action will be taken against the hospital authorities as well," he added.
The woman's father, who is the complainant in the case, told police that on Monday night he received a call from his granddaughter. "She told me how her mother drugged her and locked her in the house with the two men, who took turns to rape her. Her mother did this to take revenge from her husband and me as we are against her relationship with a villager," he added.
The complainant said after receiving his granddaughter's call, he immediately rushed to her house and informed the police.
SHO Kanwaljeet Singh said a case has been registered under Sections 376-D (gang-rape), 328 (giving intoxicating substance) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC against the accused.
