4-year-old girl raped by 36-year-old neighbour
Two days after a 24-year-old man, accused of sexually assaulting a four-year-old in east Delhi was lynched by a group of locals, after being caught red handed, another man was thrashed before being handed over to the police in north Delhi for raping a four-year-old girl.
The incident took place in north Delhi's Gulabi Bagh area on Sunday afternoon, when the accused, a 36-year-old man, who is also a neighbour of the victim, returned home in an inebriated state and saw the child playing outside her house.
"As told by locals and the victim's parents, the man took the girl to his room on the second floor of their residential building on the pretext of getting her sweets and then raped her. The crime came to fore when the child returned home crying and narrated her ordeal to her parents, who rushed her to a nearby hospital where the sexual assault was confirmed," said a senior police officer.
It was then that a PCR call was made and the accused was arrested. Police said that agitated family members of the victim and local residents thrashed the accused before handing him over to the police. Police said that a case of rape under IPC section 376 and POCSO Act has been registered against the accused.
In the earlier incident that took place on Friday, the accused had to be admitted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday evening. A case under sections of culpable homicide was registered against the locals.
