BIJNOR: A day after a six-year-old girl's body was found inside a well on the outer limits of the city, police have arrested a neighbour and sent him to jail.
According to the police, a rickshaw puller's minor daughter went missing from home on Wednesday. Her body was found on Saturday at Nangina. The child was raped and strangled before her body was dumped into a well.
Soon after the girl went missing, her father had expressed suspicion that his neighbour, Nadeem may have a hand in the child's disappearance.
After this, police arrested Nadeem on Saturday night. When questioned closely, he broke down and confessed his crime. He was sent to jail on Sunday morning.
Police have registered a case against Nadeem under IPC sections 302 (murder), 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence), 376 (whoever except in the cases provided for by sub-section (2), commits rape shall be punished with imprisonment), 363 (punishment for kidnapping) and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
According to SHO, Nagina, Akhilesh Pradhan, "The girl was strangled to death. The accused is 26 years old and married. He is an alcoholic. After she was raped, the accused dumped her body in a well. Police have arrested the culprit and he has confessed to his crime."
