Teen filmed rape of 13-year-old girl, shared at school
A 13-year-old victim of statutory rape was bullied after her attacker filmed the incident and shared it with the school, according to a detective’s testimony Wednesday in Columbus Recorder’s Court.
Andre Hamilton, 17, pleaded not guilty to statutory rape. He was ordered held in the Muscogee County Jail under a $25,000 bond.
Judge Julius Hunter bound the case over to Superior Court.
Detective Ron O’Neal said a woman reported on May 10 that Hamilton raped her 13-year-old daughter. Police interviewed the girl six days later.
She stated that she met Hamilton on Facebook, and they messaged each other. She said she told him that she was going to a friend’s house, but she never agreed to meet with him.
She said she was headed to her friend’s home sometime between November and December and ran into him. He took her to an abandoned house, where she said he raped her, police said.
Hamilton told police that the incident happened in August, when he was about a month short of his 17th birthday. He said she agreed to meet with him, and she initiated their sexual encounter. He told police he didn’t know she was 13 at the time.
O’Neal said Hamilton filmed the incident without the girl’s knowledge and shared it with students at her school. Several students bullied her and played the video whenever she came into the classroom, according to the detective’s testimony.
