Two minor sisters kidnapped, gang-raped at gunpoint by 4 youths
Two minor school students, both sisters, were kidnapped and gang-raped at gunpoint by four youths in Ganghara kutchery hamlet falling under Shahpur police station area of rural Patna.
The victims, aged 14 and 15 years, are students of class 6 and 7 in a middle school.
Though the heinous crime was committed on May 27 and June 2, it came to light only on Tuesday after the girls approached the cop and narrated the incidents while seeking action against the accused. One of the accused identified as Jyotish has been arrested in this connection while three others—Rahul, Golu and Potak—are still on run.
Confirming the incident, SSP Manu Maharaaj told HT that a case has been lodged against four persons under section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 376 (punishment for rape) IPC, 366 (abduction) and 34 of the IPC and relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
“We are taking the help of an elderly woman to get more details from the victims who are traumatised,” Maharaaj added. Sub-divisional police officer of Danapur, Rajesh Kumar said he had recorded the statement of the victims and medical examination of the two victims has been done at Sadar hospital, Danapur.
The horrific case of gang rape first occurred on May 27 when the two sisters were returning from Phutani Bazar after buying grocery. According to reports, two persons identified as Rahul and Golu took the girls to a secluded place at gunpoint and raped them.
Again on June 2, the elder sister was called by Rahul on the pretext of meeting someone. The boy took her to one Tuntun Sharma’s place, just 200 yards from her home, where three youths surrounded her and took her to a house in the locality where her modesty was outraged. “They threatened me of dire consequences should I disclose their identities,” the victim told the police.
The police are conducting raids to arrest those involved in the incident. A senior police officer of central range said, “Local policemen who did not react swiftly after the complaint was lodged will not be spared.”
