Police hunt man after two women raped in Finsbury Park
Descriptions from the victims and the location of the attacks have led detectives to believe they were carried out by the same man.
The first assault happened in the early hours of July 22. A 22-year-old woman had agreed to share a taxi home from Leicester Square with a man she’d met.
She believed they would be taken to their respective homes but the taxi dropped them off near Seven Sisters Road and the man dragged her into a side road and raped her.
The victim made her way to a restaurant where police were called and she was taken to a Haven for support.
Then, in the early hours of Tuesday last week, a 21-year-old woman was on the underground from Leicester Square when she met a man who harassed her before forcing her onto a northbound Victoria Line train.
After getting off at Finsbury Park, he forced her into an alleyway and raped her. Police were called and the victim was taken to a Haven.
Det Insp Jeremy McDermott said the attacker had targeted lone women who had been out in central London. He called for taxi drivers or others who may have seen the man pictured on the nights in question to get in touch. He also urged any other potential victims to get in touch.
He said: “If you have any information which would assist in identifying this man, I urge you to contact us.”
Anyone who feels they may have been victim to a similar but unreported attack, or any witnesses or anyone with any information is urged to call the investigation team on 020 8217 6541 or via 101.
