SAMASTIPUR: A 16-year-old girl was murdered at Rajwara village under Khanpur police station of Samastipur district on Sunday night after she dared to lodge a complaint in the court of sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) against some of her co-villagers who used to pass lewd comments on her and had made her life miserable.
Soon after she lodged the complaint, the minor girl was kidnapped, raped and murdered before her body was dumped in an orchard in the village. Her body was found in a semi-naked condition on Monday and her face also bore injury marks. Police later took the body to Samastipur sadar hospital for postmortem.
According to sources, the girl along with her relatives had earlier approached Khanpur police station to lodge a complaint against the youths who had been harassing her for quite sometime. However, when police failed to take any action against her tormentors, she approached the court of Samastipur SDM.
After the complaint was filed, a police team reached the village on Sunday looking for the miscreants but none of them were found. Reportedly, when the accused came to know about the complaint, they decided to teach the girl a lesson. On the same day they kidnapped the girl and killed her.
Meanwhile, police have arrested one Dilip Mahto of the village. Raids are on to arrest others involved in the rape and murder case.
The victim's father, Ram Balak Mahto, has lodged an FIR with the Khanpur police station against 12 persons accusing them of their involvement in the case.
Samastipur SP Dipak Ranjan said all those involved in the crime would be soon arrested. AIPWA district president Bandana Singh said, "Both police and the administration are immune to crime against women."
She demanded justice for the victim and action against cops who failed to save the dignity of the girl.
