NEW DELHI: A six-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her neighbour in Indra Enclave of Aman Vihar in outer Delhi on Sunday while she was alone at her house.
The accused lived on the first floor of the same building.
Confirming the incident, DCP (outer) MN Tiwari said that the 23-year-old accused has been arrested and booked for rape and under POCSO Act. The parents of the survivor are daily wage labourers and would leave their daughter at home when they went for work. The accused is also a daily wager.
On Sunday, he waited for the girl's parents to leave and then went downstairs. He lured the girl to his room on the pretext of playing with her and sexually assaulted her. In the evening, the girl's mother found her daughter crying and after coaxing she narrated her ordeal. The girl was taken to a hospital where doctors confirmed sexual assault. Subsequently, a police complaint was registered against the accused. The girl is currently being treated.
Doctors told police that the girl has a damaged internal organ and needs to be on bed rest for the next few weeks.
The accused fled after committing the crime, but was arrested after his phone was put on surveillance and his location was traced.
He has admitted to having raped the girl.
Cops are probing whether he had sexually assaulted the girl earlier too. His mobile phone is being scanned to find out whether he had recorded the act.
