People of Mehar community, along with a large number of locals, took to streets in Dug town of Jhalawar district, demanding immediate arrest of the accused who raped and killed a 10-year-old Mehar girl. The body of the victim was found on late Tuesday afternoon in bushes on an agriculture field on Dobda road.
The family members suspect a local youth behind the crime and have submitted a report against him, Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) said.
The body was handed over to the family after postmortem today morning, the DSP said.
The efforts are underway to nab the accused who has been absconding.
The victim reportedly went missing on Monday noon while she was taking food for her father who was working on his agriculture field.
When the girl did not return the family members presumed that she had stayed back with her father.
When the girl did not return by evening, the parents lodged a report with the police.
Notably, on Sunday evening also, a 12-year-old girl of Meena community was raped by a neighbour.
