Nagpur: A case, initially registered as rape, took a serious turn on Friday after the detailed statement of the 15-year-old survivor revealed that she was exploited by three more persons apart from the one already booked by Nandanvan police a couple of days ago.
Nandanvan police, which had earlier arrested 22-year-old Vijay Chavan on Thursday, now have taken into custody his accomplices Sachin Urkude, 30, Vishwas Meshram, 23, and Vishal Ganvir, 20, for their involvement in the incident.
Senior PI Manik Nalawade of Nandanvan police station said the gang rape was not registered earlier as the survivor had not mentioned about it.
Police said the survivor, student of Std X, had been staying at a hostel in Chandrapur where she studied too. Her younger brother too is in Chandrapur. She had returned around five months ago. Her mother wanted her to return to Chandrapur. The survivor was not keen to return to Chandrapur.
On December 4, the survivor sneaked out of her home on the pretext of going to a shop where she met Chavan who is a neighbour too. Chavan lured her away to give shelter before taking the survivor to the room of Urkude.
After exploiting her in the night, Chavan left the place. Urkude then exploited the survivor and was joined by Ganvir and Meshram.
The survivor called up Chavan to narrate her plight on Wednesday morning. Chavan took her back to home where the survivor narrated her plight to her parents.
Chavan was remanded to police custody for four days on Friday after being produced before the court. It was during interrogation Chavan revealed the names of his three other accomplices.
