BAREILLY: Four months after being released on bail for sexually assaulting and killing a minor boy, a 19-year-old youth was arrested on Sunday afternoon for sodomising another 10-year-old in the city's posh public works department (PWD) colony.
Pawan Maurya, a resident of PWD colony, lured the young boy to a discreet location on the pretext of giving him a mobile phone and sodomised him.
The matter came to light when the survivor narrated the ordeal to his family, following which an FIR was registered at the Kotwali police station. He was booked under section 377 of the IPC and section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
Delving further into the case, police made the chilling discovery that Maurya was sent to jail last year for sodomy-cum-murder of a 13-year-old boy near Kusum Nagar in Baradari area here on August 13. The victim's body was found buried in an abandoned plot of land behind a dairy farm, said officials.
"A forensic team will examine the spot to collect more evidence. Medical examination of the accused has also been conducted. We are in the process of collecting more evidence in the crime," said Geetesh Kapil, inspector of Kotwali police station.
According to police, Maurya lived with his family in the PWD colony where his father works as a gatekeeper.
"We received a complaint from the minor boy's family after which the accused was held. We are also studying his past criminal record," said Rohit Singh Sajwan, superintendent of police, city.
