Three women have accused Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein of rape, according to a bombshell report released Tuesday by The New Yorker.

'Me too' : Women across the world share experiences of sexual assault and harassment following Harvey Weinstein scandal CHRIS BAYNES October 16 2017

report by Ronan Farrow claims that three women, including actress Asia Argento, told him they were raped by Mr. Weinstein and accused the film producer of “forcibly performing or receiving oral sex and forcing vaginal sex.”
An additional four women reportedly told Mr. Farrow that they experienced “unwanted touching that could be classified as an assault” at the hands of Mr. Weinstein, who was fired this week from the board of his company following a New York Times report that he paid off eight sexual harassment accusers over the span of decades.
“In the course of a ten-month investigation, I was told by thirteen women that, between the nineteen-nineties and 2015, Weinstein sexually harassed or assaulted them, allegations that corroborate and overlap with the Times’s revelations, and also include far more serious claims,” Mr. Farrow wrote.
He said four of the women he interviewed cited encounters in which Mr. Weinstein “exposed himself or masturbated in front of them.”
Mr. Farrow said “virtually all of the people” he interviewed said they were frightened of retaliation by Mr. Weinstein if they went public.
“Four actresses, including Mira Sorvino and Rosanna Arquette, told me they suspected that, after they rejected Weinstein’s advances or complained about them to company representatives, Weinstein had them removed from projects or dissuaded people from hiring them,” Mr. Farrow wrote.
Mr. Weinstein has denied the new allegations.
“Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein,” Sallie Hofmeister, a spokesperson for Mr. Weinstein, said in a statement. “Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances. Mr. Weinstein obviously can’t speak to anonymous allegations, but with respect to any women who have made allegations on the record, Mr. Weinstein believes that all of these relationships were consensual. Mr. Weinstein has begun counseling, has listened to the community and is pursuing a better path. Mr. Weinstein is hoping that, if he makes enough progress, he will be given a second chance.”

A serial rapist already sentenced to more than a century in prison for sexual assaults in Cuyahoga County was arraigned on charges in a 2003 rape in Akron that authorities say he was tied to through DNA.
Nathan Ford, 50, pleaded not guilty to one count of rape during a video arraignment from the Summit County Jail.
Summit County Common Pleas Magistrate Dawn Humphrys set Ford’s bond at $50,000.
Ford was convicted of numerous criminal charges stemming from rapes in the Cleveland area and was sentenced to serve more than 100 years in prison.
In January 2016, Akron police matched Ford’s DNA to DNA in a rape kit from an assault on Oct. 18, 2003. At the time, Ford was being prosecuted in Cuyahoga County. When those cases were concluded, Akron police filed charges for the 2003 incident, prosecutors say.
In the Akron incident, a 22-year-old woman told police a man approached her in the 800 block of East Exchange Street and said he had something to show her at the rear of the house. She said he forced her to the ground, pulled her shirt over her face and raped her. She said he used a condom, according to the incident report.
After the man fled, the woman flagged down an Akron police cruiser, prosecutors say.
Ford was tied to the Akron rape through testing done as part of Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine’s effort to test rape kits for matches.
He is the second person in Summit County prosecuted for a DNA match through the state testing program. Efrem Johnson was sentenced to 28 years in prison last November after being convicted of a 2000 rape that he was tied to through DNA. Johnson already was serving a life sentence for a 2010 murder.
Ford was convicted in Cuyahoga County on multiple charges of rape, kidnapping, gross sexual imposition, felonious assault, aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary. His sentence runs through March 2158 and he would first be eligible for parole in February 2140, according to the state prison website.
Ford, a former Lake County probation officer, claimed he had no memory of the 15 rapes he was tied to through DNA in Cuyahoga County. Prosecutors said he grabbed the victims off the street and threatened them with a gun or choked them as he raped them, according to a Cleveland Plain Dealer story.
Ford’s attorney argued that he suffered from a type of dementia that damaged parts of his brain and hampered his sexual impulses. Prosecutors, however, countered that Ford’s behavior was calculated, with him at times wearing gloves or forcing his victims to wash to try to remove evidence, according to the Plain Dealer story.
“I will kill you,” Ford told one victim, according to her report. “I’ve killed people before.”

MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI - A "sexual predator" who began raping when he was 14 was sentenced for drugging and raping two women, though according to the prosecutor the number of victims was likely much higher.
Larry Stiff was sentenced to 24 years to 51 years in prison by Muskegon County Circuit Judge Timothy Hicks. He received the sentence for each count, but they will be served concurrently.
The judge gave him 458 days credit for time already served in jail. He also ordered Stiff to a lifetime of electronic monitoring "if and when he leaves" prison.
Stiff, 32, was convicted by a jury last month after four women testified their drinks were drugged before they were sexually assaulted. Two others said they were drugged but managed to escape being assaulted. The jury deliberated for less than a half hour.
Muskegon County Senior Assistant Prosecutor Brandon Davis told Hicks that nearly 40 women had come forward with similar stories about Stiff and his co-defendant Joshua Humphrey.
Hicks, who said the public needs protection from Stiff who he called a "sexual predator, noted the state guidelines for the minimum sentence are 14 to 29 years.
Testimony indicated that in all but one case Humphrey had contacted the women via online dating sites, met them at area bars where Stiff also was present and appeared to be the one who drugged their drinks.
Defense Attorney Fred Johnson said because Humphrey was the leader, Stiff should receive a lesser sentence. Hicks sentenced Humphrey in June to 28 to 51 years, calling him a "serial rapist" and "master manipulator."
But Davis pointed out that Stiff had been convicted of raping a Muskegon woman when he was 14 and prior to that had been in a Texas juvenile facility for a similar crime.
"When you look at (Stiff's) record, he's more culpable than Joshua Humphrey because (Humphrey) never had been convicted of CSC," Davis said. "Joshua Humphrey was never (previously) accused of CSC... This defendant repeated a pattern of criminal sexual conduct."
"Despite the fact Mr. Stiff may not have been a leader here ...  he understood completely what he was doing," Hicks said. "But more importantly, Mr. Stiff is someone from whom we need to be protected. He is a sexual predator and there is a substantial danger to the public by him remaining in the community."
Both victims testified that after drinking shots Humphrey brought to them at a bar, they at first felt dizzy and then became increasingly incoherent as Humphrey and Stiff took them to a basement of a home later identified as Stiff's.
The women said they eventually went in and out of consciousness and realized they were being raped but unable to stop it. They woke up disrobed and in pain in Stiff's basement the following morning, they said.
"I remember being on the bed but I couldn't move. I attempted to move my body and I just could not move my body," one of the victims said. "I was trying to get up and I totally just laid there. It was dark but somebody was on top of me ... Someone was penetrating me."
In addition to the two victims, three other women testified to similar experiences: meeting Humphrey online, getting together with him the first time at a bar where they met Stiff, drinking a shot and becoming incoherent, and being taken to a home and raped while they were virtually paralyzed.
They also testified about missing money, cell phones, clothing and even a television set. Stiff was convicted earlier of receiving and concealing stolen property in the case of the television set.
Two women testified to being drugged but not sexually assaulted. One of them - the only one who did not encounter Humphrey - said she met Stiff on an online dating site and when they got together, he drugged her drink. She said she was able to drag herself out of Stiff's basement and summon a friend to give her a ride home.
At his trial, Stiff testified that he pleaded no contest to breaking into a Muskegon woman's home and raping her at knifepoint when he was 14, and that he served 10 years in prison for it.

DECATUR, GA. - A man accused of brutally murdering a Lithonia pregnant woman last year pled guilty.
Terique Dwayne Hall, 25, pled guilty to murder, rape and weapons offenses in the death of Ashley Mays, as well as sexual assault crimes against two other women.
Hall was sentenced to two consecutive life terms plus five years in prison.
Mays’ body was found by the cleaning staff at a Quality Inn on Snapfinger Park Drive on Nov. 18, 2016. She had been raped and then strangled to death.
Video surveillance captured images of Hall entering the Mays’ hotel room and exiting less than an hour later. He fled in a dark colored car parked in a wooded area near the hotel.
Seven days prior to Mays’ murder, Hall attacked another woman in similar fashion. According to police, he entered that woman's Lithonia townhome, pulled a gun on her, forced a black bandana into her mouth, zip-tied her hands and feet, and then raped her in her child’s bedroom. He also stole electronics and money.
Hall attempted to attack another woman at the America’s Best Value Inn on Crescent Centre Boulevard in Tucker, three days later. That attack was thwarted by another man who was at the location and pulled a gun on Hall, forcing him to run away.
According to officials, Hall met with each of his victims under the guise of purchasing sex after contacting them online through Backpage.com.
11Alive's Chris Hopper looked into the site and talked to one local D.A. about how prevalent it is.
The site is, at its core, made up of classified ads, some more unsavory than others. Ads soliciting sex are not hard to find, and, according to Cobb County Assistant D.A. Chuck Boring, women who post on the site often find themselves in the situation where they become victims of human trafficking.
"They have no idea the reality of this until they get into it," Boring said. "It is happening all over, especially in major metropolitan areas. The Internet has made this a much smaller world, so people just can go on their computer and just get access to this type of thing."
Yet while the site has come under fire, it's been difficult to get it shut down.
"It's very difficult (to go against them), because, like many social media or Internet type of groups, once you find a way to try and stop it, they find a way to get around it."

SHELTON - A man convicted in the 1980s for a series of rapes has been arrested for failing to register as a sex offender.
David Pollitt, 64, of 264 River Road, was arrested after moving back to back to Connecticut from Georgia and failing to register, police said.
Pollitt was implicated in a half dozen rapes in the Rocky Hill and New London areas and was sentenced to 45 years in prison.
He was released after serving 24 years and ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
After protests in the state Pollitt was allowed to move to Georgia on the condition that if he did return to Connecticut he would have to notify authorities here. Police said that was not done.
The Crown has not met the threshold of evidence required to have serial rapist Sofyan Boalag declared a dangerous offender, his lawyer Jeff Brace argued Friday in provincial court.

Brace said he doesn’t want to minimize the impact that the incidents Boalag was convicted of have had on the three female victims in the case, but noted the crimes were committed five years ago during a three-month period.

Brace said there is nothing else before the court of any criminal record for Boalag outside of those convictions.
He said that instead of declaring Boalag a dangerous offender, the court should impose a sentence of 10 years total for the crimes.
That’s a far cry from what Crown prosecutor Trisha Mccarthy argued for earlier this week. She said that Boalag does meet “any and all” criteria to be deemed a dangerous offender, and if the court did not agree, a sentence of 17 years should be imposed.

Boalag, 37, a native of Algeria, raped two women and a 15-year-old girl as they walked home from the downtown St. John’s area over the summer and fall of 2012. He also robbed one of the women and the teenager, and choked the other woman until she was rendered unconscious. Boalag was armed with a stick in the first case and a knife in the other two.

The Crown applied to provincial court to have Boalag deemed a dangerous offender. If declared so, he would be kept behind bars for an indefinite period of time.
Judge Pamela Goulding will give a written decision in the case on Nov. 9.
Brace said that Boalag has been in custody on remand for 1,757 days. He suggested that Goulding consider Boalag for 1.5 times credit for time already served that can be applied against a sentence. That, he calculated, would leave Boalag with just less than three years to serve if the sentence imposed was 10 years.

Forensic psychiatrist Dr. Jasbir Gill had conducted a lengthy evaluation of Boalag at the Waterford Hospital and both presented a detailed report and testified in the Boalag case. Gill said Boalag was likely to reoffend unless he received more jail time, sex offender treatment and supervision in the community.

Brace argued that while Gill suggested Boalag was at a high risk to reoffend, the scores on tests done on Boalag during the evaluation placed him at low-to-medium risk to reoffend.

Earlier this week, the three victims’ impact statements were presented to the court. Two of the victims addressed Boalag directly for the first time. The third woman — who was just 15 and a virgin when she was raped by Boalag — chose to give her written statement to Crown prosecutor Trisha Mccarthy to read to the court.
The women described how traumatic the incidents have been for them. They spoke of such things as fearing for their health, of walking at night and of men they don’t know.

Johannesburg - Serial rapist Josias Xaniseka Mkansi was sentenced to 14 life sentences and an additional 185 years in the South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg.
The life sentences for 14 counts of rape will run concurrently.
In addition, he was sentenced to 10 years each on two additional counts of rape, not to run concurrently and 15 years each on 11 counts of robbery.
In handing down sentence, Judge Ingrid Opperman said it is generally believed that serial rapist can't be rehabilitated.
Judge Opperman described Mkansi as a serial sexual predator who made life hell for others.
She said the court was duty bound to send a clear message to other rapists that no mercy would be shown for those who invade the privacy of women.
During sentencing, Mkansi appeared calm and often closed his eyes. On Tuesday, Mkansi's name was added to the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO).
"The objective of the registration is to protect children. You are never to work with children. When you apply for a job you need to disclose these convictions," she said.
During mitigation of sentencing, Mkansi testified that he was born on April 29, 1967 and was the child of a traditional healer.
He is one of 36 children. He claimed he was raised in poverty and suffered physical abuse while growing up. He had been married twice, but both his wives died. He is a father of seven children.
On March 7, 2017, Mkansi was found guilty of 14 counts of rape, two counts of compelled rape and 11 counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances.
At his last court appearance, the court heard that he committed the crimes while he was on parole for an unrelated crime, and had previously violated his parole.
He had previous convictions of murder, attempted murder and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition - crimes he also committed while on parole.
Mkansi operated with a partner - Sinja Robin Mabitsela, whose sentencing was postponed to November 16.
Mkansi and Mabitsela raped, robbed, and forced men to rape their partners in Alexandra, Johannesburg, between 2007 and 2015.
They were caught in 2015.
Vincentia Dlamini from the Women and Men Against Child Abuse said they were relieved that Mkansi had been put away for life with no prospect of parole.
"The community of Alexandra can now live with one less serial rapist on the streets. We are thrilled in the way the court handled the manner," Dlamini said.

Polokwane - A 32-year-old man found guilty on 26 counts of kidnapping, assault, rape and robbery has been sentenced to 10 life terms and an additional 159 years.

Tinashe Max Makisi Virima was sentenced in the High Court division sitting in Thohoyandou, in Limpopo on Thursday.

Virima, 32, committed the crimes between 2013 and March 2015. He kidnapped, assaulted, and sometimes raped his victims.

Virima committed the rapes and robberies in the company of his friends who are on the run from police.

"They would ambush the complainants in their cars... rob them and proceeded to rape the female victims. Some of the rape victims would be raped after their houses were broken into,"' said NPA provincial spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi.

Virima pleaded not guilty to all the charges and elected to remain silent. He claimed that he was in Zimbabwe when the offences were committed.

But state prosecutor Advocate Zwodangani Mabodi led oral and DNA evidence which linked him to the crimes.

The court imposed the prescribed life sentences in the rape and 15 years each in the robbery with aggravating circumstances counts.

The sentences will run concurrently.

A 52-year-old serial rapist, John Udensi, is to spend the next 10 years behind the bars, a Jos High Court ruled.
Udensi had raped girls — a teenager and two underage of ages 13, 11 and 10, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Justice Nafisa Musa sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to a charge of rape.
“Going by the findings of this court and your guilty plea, you Udensi callously raped three minor girls at your home after luring them with television programmes.
“The sentence of this court upon you is that you shall remain behind bars for 10 years without an option of fine,” the judge ruled.
“The sentence is meant to serve as a deterrent to others.”
The convict was first arraigned on Nov. 25, 2015 on a charge of raping minors.
Udensi, a resident of Angwan-Boarder, Tudun Wada in Jos, had on May 9 pleaded guilty to the charge and the judge reserved sentence for Oct. 12.
Earlier, Police Prosecutor C. R. Parlong told the court that the accused committed the offence at his residence on different dates in 2015.
He alleged that Udensi lured the girls into his room to watch television and took advantage of them.
“The accused had confessed to the police, in a confessional statement, that he committed the crime on Oct. 9, Nov. 18 and Nov. 20, 2015 at his home in Tudun Wada,’’ Parlong said.
The prosecutor said the accused admitted to have raped the first and second victims in his room while they were watching television.
“The accused was unlucky as he was caught in the act by some people while raping the teenager.
“He was beaten up by the crowd and later handed over to the police,’’ Parlong said.
The offence contravened Section 283 of the Penal Code and punishable with life imprisonment on conviction.

Serial Rapist Bags 10 Year Jail Term October 12, 2017

A SERIAL NSW rapist who sadistically tortured a string of domestic partners over decades has been jailed for at least 27 years.
District Court Judge Sarah Huggett said much of the abuse was designed to “emphasise a victim’s powerlessness and worthlessness” and when one woman managed to escape the man simply found a “replacement”.
The Central Coast man, who can’t be named for legal reasons, was found guilty by a jury of 21 offences against six women and one girl between 1988 and his arrest in 2014.
The 53-year-old was jailed for a maximum 36 years for those offences and more than a dozen other assaults.
In one of the most shocking instances of abuse the man beat his pregnant partner with a plank of wood so she would give birth on his birthday. He also forced a partner and her child to eat off the floor anytime they took too long to eat meals.
On other occasions the sadist also: locked windows and doors and threatened to kill his partners so they wouldn’t leave; hogtied one partner and left her in a bath filling with water; and raped women on 10 occasions including once with a vacuum cleaner pole.
Several women still bear the physical and psychological scars of his abuse.
“Simply put, no sentence can necessarily reflect the harm he inflicted upon his victims,” Judge Huggett said.
In 1994 one partner’s unsuccessful escape attempt was thwarted when the man bound her and shoved her in a wardrobe.
When the victim’s sister, accompanied by police, arrived at the house moments later looking for her sibling the abuser said his partner wasn’t there and slammed the door shut.
The victim, inside the bedroom wardrobe, heard her sister calling her name but was too frightened to respond.
The serial rapist smiled in court as he was led away by custodial officers.
“I might give you something you want,” he said looking towards the public gallery.
The 53-year-old was previously jailed in the late 1980s for abusing his first wife and child.

Detroit police said they’ve arrested two suspects believed to be responsible for three sexual assaults — and possibly more — in Detroit and Hamtramck.
We’re referring to it as serial rapists,” police Chief James Craig said during a press conference at police headquarters. “We believe these two suspects were involved in two sexual assaults in Detroit and another in Hamtramck. The good news is, they’re both in custody.”
Craig said he believes there could be more victims, and called on anyone with information to come forward.
All of the victims were riding bicycles when they were abducted, Craig said, adding two of the women were abducted during the day, taken to a separate location and raped.
The most recent abduction happened Oct. 8 in Hamtramck near Denton and Lumpkin, said Lt. Joe Tucker of the department’s special victims unit.
One of the Detroit kidnappings was Sept. 30 near Orleans and Milwaukee streets, while the third case happened in “early September in the 10th Precinct,” Tucker said. He said he was withholding details because of the ongoing investigation.
“We’re processing a white van used in the second incident,” Tucker said. “A gray Trailblazer was used in the third (rape), and a black Neon was driven by one of the suspects.”
Tucker said he’s still trying to determine if other suspects were involved. “Right now, we have two in custody,” he said. “We’ll follow every lead and if there turns out to be more we’ll investigate that.”
Craig and Tucker declined to give details how they were able to catch the alleged rapists.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Detroit Police Sex Crimes unit at (313) 596-1950.
