NEW DELHI: An eight-year-old girl was raped by a shopkeeper in west Delhi's Tilak Nagar on Saturday.Police said that the accused is at large and they have launched a hunt to trace him.
Police said that the incident was reported to them on Sunday by the girl's parents. Her parents said her mother had sent the girl to a shop to buy a few items and gave her Rs 100 note.
The child lost the note somewhere on her way. She reached the shop and took the items from the shopkeeper before she realised she had lost the money and started crying.
The shopkeeper asked her what went wrong and came forward to comfort her, and then asked her to accompany him to his house.
He took her to his home and raped her. When she reached home, the girl narrated the entire episode to her parents, who then went to the police station. Police said that they have registered a complaint and are looking for the accused.
