CHILLICOTHE - A woman who pleaded guilty last month to raping a 12-year-old girl was sentenced to 10 years to life in prison.

Shakyra L. Silcott, 20, was arrested on a rape charge in May after Chillicothe police found her engaged in a sex act with the girl in the Yoctangee Park annex. The investigation led to Silcott being indicted on two additional rape charges.
Silcott pleaded guilty in November to all three rape charges as well as a breaking and entering charge related to an April incident where Silcott was discovered in Kmart riding a motorized cart after hours.
Judge Mike Ater sentenced Silcott to 11 months on the breaking and entering charge to run at the same time as the rape sentence. The sentence was in alignment with the negotiated plea.
No victim impact statements were offered at sentencing and none had been returned, according to Assistant Ross County Prosecutor Jeff Marks.
If Silcott is released from prison, she will be required to register as a sex offender for life and will be subject to five years of mandatory post-release control.

A Beaumont High School teacher, who in September was accused of having a sexual relationship with a student,  was charged Monday, Dec. 18, with oral copulation with a minor and two counts of unlawful intercourse with a minor at least three years younger.
Samantha Lee Ciotta is scheduled to be arraigned on the felony counts Dec. 27 in Riverside County Superior Court in Banning, according to court records. She is not in custody.
Ciotta, an English teacher, has been on administrative leave.
The student came forward to police in September, Beaumont police spokeswoman Mercedes McFayden said.
The student told detectives “there has been unlawful sexual intercourse occurring for the past few months,” police said in a news release. Investigators also found Ciotta and the student had “inappropriate communications … through various messaging platforms.”
Ciotta is the second Beaumont High teacher this fall to be accused of having sexual relations with a student. Christina Jacobson was arrested in October on suspicion of oral copulation with a person under 18 years old and sexual penetration with a foreign object.
Jacobson has not been charged.

COTTAGE GROVE, OR — A former teacher at the Logos Christian Academy in Springfield was arrested at her home in Cottage Grove Friday for having a 2-year sexual relationship with a former student — beginning when the boy was just 15 years old.
Andrea Nicole Baber, 29, was taken to the Douglas County Jail on several sex abuse charges, including sodomy, rape, and contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor, as well as unlawful delivery of marijuana to a person under 18 years of age. She was released and is due back in a Douglas County court Dec. 26.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Patch, Baber began her relationship with the minor victim in 2016, when the boy was 15 and while she was his literature, writing and speech teacher at Logos Christian Academy.
Baber's misconduct came to light last Tuesday, Dec. 12, when the victim's father called Douglas County 911 to report "an inappropriate sexual relationship" between his son and Baber.
The victim reportedly told his father what was going on after the father and his wife received an anonymous email asking if they were aware their son was having an affair with Baber.
The victim's father told sheriff's officials the email he received had several photos attached depicting his son and Baber in bed together, apparently topless and covered in bed sheets. The father reportedly suspected Baber's husband sent the email.
Baber's husband reportedly discovered the pair together at his home — and partially naked — Dec. 5.
Baber's husband called Child Protective Services (CPS) following his discovery, documents show, noting the victim escaped out the bedroom window at the time; he also reportedly told CPS about several cell phone photos of his naked wife that had been sent to the victim.
The victim told detectives he and Baber began flirting at Logos Christian Academy before going out to movies together in 2016. The victim said he and Baber began kissing at the movies, then escalated the nature of the relationship when school let out for summer break.
The victim reported engaging in sex with Baber, meeting up once or twice per week at Baber's home in the 1200-block of Territorial Highway in Cottage Grove. When they weren't together, they would reportedly send lewd pictures and messages to each other through Snapchat and/or Instagram.
The victim also reportedly told detectives he would sometimes smoke cannabis with Baber and that they'd once drank vodka together.
Around 5:45 p.m. Dec. 15, Douglas County detectives executed a search warrant at the Baber residence. The Babers reportedly were not home at the time.
While there, detectives seized as evidence several items described in detail by the victim in his testimony to Douglas County law enforcement, including sex toys and cannabis pipes.
When the Babers returned home and saw the items missing, Andrea reportedly called 911 to report a burglary. After finding the search warrant left by detectives, Baber's husband called back to withdraw their complaint.
Deputies took Andrea into custody a short time later. Since her release, Baber is not allowed contact with any minors other than her own 15-month-old child. She is also not allowed to use Snapchat or Instagram.

A former special education teacher was sentenced to 10 years in prison for having sex with a student at an Illinois high school.

Sarah L. Myers was teaching math and special education at North Boone High School when she had a sexual relationship with the teenager, who was not a special ed student, according to the Rockford Register Star.
Prosecutors said that the boy reported the relationship in April, telling authorities that he had been having sex with Myers since November 2016. Myers was supposed to go to trial in January, but reached a plea deal at a court appearance for the charges, based on two incidents that took place in Boone County. There is, however, a third alleged incident that took place in Champaign County, and Myers still faces a separate charge there.
For the Boone County case, Myers pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal sexual assault. She has already spent 261 days behind bars, which will count towards her 10-year sentence. She will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.

A man and woman have been jailed for a total of 19 years for luring teenage girls to hotels where they were sexually abused.
Daniel Pusey, 21, of Money Lane, West Drayton, London, and Diane Chilcott, 40, of Rutherwyk Road, Chertsey, Surrey, were sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court after being found guilty of facilitating travel to exploit.
A Surrey Police spokesman said: "The pair worked together to lure and then sexually exploit girls at hotels across north Surrey and west London between January and February 2016.
"The victims, aged between 13 and 15 at the time, were plied with alcohol and cigarettes at Chilcott's house and then driven by her and Pusey to hotels in Staines, Twickenham, Tolworth and Heathrow.
"There they would continue to be given alcohol and cigarettes and some would then be subjected to sexual abuse by Pusey."
The spokesman said that Pusey, who was sentenced to 13 years' imprisonment, was found guilty at an earlier trial of seven offences of sexual activity with a child in connection with this case.
He added that Chilcott was sentenced to six years in prison .
Detective Inspector Richard Haycock said: "This was calculated exploitation of young teenage girls. "These individuals clearly knew what they were doing, supplying the victims with alcohol to make them even more vulnerable to sexual abuse.
"The offenders knew how old the girls were but continued to exploit them on a number of occasions and I commend the victims for their bravery in speaking to authorities and seeing the legal process through to the end, this has been a long and difficult journey for them."

An Oswego County woman has pleaded guilty in a child sexual exploitation case that also involves a woman from Carthage.
Forty-six year old Tammy Lemere of Granby pleaded guilty to charges in federal court.
Lemere, 48 year old Tammy Martin of Carthage, and Martin's ex-husband, 59 year old Clif Seaway were arrested in 2016, all accused of sexually abusing children to make child pornography.
Martin pleaded guilty in August to three counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
Seaway was found guilty in a federal court jury trial earlier this month on 12 charges, two counts of conspiracy to sexually exploit a child and 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
Lemere admitted she and Seaway engaged in sexual acts with as child who was between the ages of 6 and 11 from 2010 to 2013 for the purpose of producing visual depictions of the sexual abuse.
Martin admitted to exploiting a 6 year old girl, a 4 year old boy, and a girl who was abused starting when she was 9 months old.
All three face at least 15 years and up to 30 years in prison for each count on which they were convicted.
Lemere and Seaway are set to be sentenced in April and Martin's sentencing is scheduled for January.

A Huntsville woman is in custody in Pettis County on a warrant for several sexual abuse charges.
Pettis County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Angie Nicole Sheets, 26, oafter the Moberly Police Department requested assistance in locating her.
Sheets is facing eight felony charges in Randolph County Circuit Court, including first-degree sodomy, two counts of first-degree child molestation, two counts of incest and first-degree rape. She has also been charged in Randolph County with two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child by engaging in sexual conduct.
She remains in the Pettis County Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
Moberly police officers received a report Nov. 13 through the Children’s Division Hotline about possible physical and sexual abuse. A forensic interview with a 9-year-old girl took place Nov. 17 at Rainbow House, a children’s advocacy center and emergency shelter in Columbia.
The girl described multiple incidents of inappropriate touching and sexual activity involving Sheets and her husband, Carl Edward Sheets. These incidents would have occurred on or about August 2014 to June 2016, according to a probable cause statement.
The child said Carl Sheets, 38, committed different sexual acts on her with Sheets watching and, at times, participating. She was able to identify several body parts of male and female anatomy involved in sexual encounters.
Carl Sheets has been charged with 16 felonies, 10 of which relate to sexual conduct. He is facing three counts of incest, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child involving sexual conduct, second-degree sodomy, second-degree statutory sodomy, first-degree rape, second-degree statutory rape and other abuse charges.
He is in custody in the Randolph County Jail with a $500,000 cash-only bond. Judge Cynthia A. Suter sustained a motion of continuance to postpone his Dec. 29 preliminary hearing.

MASON CITY | A North Iowa judge has denied closing a sentencing hearing for a Charles City woman charged with sexually abusing a child while working as a Mason City day care provider.
Judge Rustin Davenport has ruled the sentencing hearing for Tawny Symonds, 31, will remain open, after Iowa Assistant Attorney General Scott Brown filed a motion to resist her attorneys' request to close it earlier this month.
In the motion, Brown said Symonds, her attorneys and prosecutors "may be uncomfortable or disagree with the objections" to the plea agreement, but noted people have the right to express opinions and view the court process first-hand.
"Hopefully, once the public has all the information there will be a complete understanding of the agreement that was entered," Brown wrote.
Neither Davenport or Steve Kloberdanz — a public defender representing Symonds and who filed the motion to close the hearing — could be reached for comment by phone Wednesday afternoon.
Davenport's decision follows a period when there was an uproar on social media about a plea deal for Symonds.
Symonds submitted a written Alford plea in Cerro Gordo County District Court to child endangerment, in exchange for the felony second-degree sexual abuse and assault charges being dropped.
An Alford plea is when a defendant does not admit guilt but acknowledges the state can likely prove the charge.
Police say Symonds victimized a child at her home-run daycare in southeastern Mason City. She was arrested in December 2016.
Brown, the state assistant attorney general, said he had not heard Davenport's ruling, and quickly reviewed it in an interview with the Globe Gazette. He added he was not surprised about the decision.
"It’s no more dangerous than any other court hearing," he said. "Emotions can run pretty high in anything we do."
Brown said the court may "beef up" security with the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office to allow the hearing to proceed in a civil manner, if that protection is needed.
Disturbances in the courtroom, disrespectful conduct and threats towards those involved in the case can result in contempt charges, Brown's motion noted.
Symonds' sentencing has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 12, 2018, at the Cerro Gordo County Law Enforcement Complex.
A 49-year-old woman has been sentenced to six years and five months for taking part in the sexual abuse of a seven-year-old girl Hamilton girl who was advertised online.
"Those crimes are reprehensible and cannot be tolerated by any society," Justice Tony Leitch told court Thursday.
Sonya Lucas of Kitchener received her sentence as the girl's distraught aunt and her supporters looked on.
Lucas, 49, had already pleaded guilty to sexual interference, possession of child pornography and making child pornography.
She accompanied Rui DaSilva from Waterloo to the girl's Hamilton home on April 26, 2016. There, in the basement, they sexually abused the girl, a scenario the mother's boyfriend arranged by offering the child up on Craigslist.
Lucas, a sex worker who was paid $100 that night, filmed the abuse on a cellphone camera.
Leitch recounted how she and the other adults watched child porn in a "twisted warmup" before molesting the girl.
"The abuse was prolonged over several minutes."
Lucas was convicted for that one night, but she did "nothing" to prevent more abuse, "reporting it to nobody," Leitch added.
Child pornography and anatomically correct dolls used in previous "daddy-daughter" sessions with DaSilva, 38, were found at Lucas' home.
The judge doubted Lucas' potential for rehabilitation, noting she'd already been convicted of a sexual offence involving minors once before.
Leitch took into consideration her Gladue report, a document considered upon sentencing to recognize the unique circumstances of Indigenous offenders.
He noted Lucas' upbringing, which included stays in foster homes, was rife with abuse. "Clearly, her mother could not care for her as she should have."
But Leitch also weighed the incalculable impact the sexual abuse would have on Lucas' young victim for years to come.
"Prey upon innocent children and you will pay a heavy price," he said, this time, looking down at Lucas seated in the prisoner's box.
Lucas' sentence is six years and five months in prison, having already been in custody since August 2016.
She must also abide by several conditions, including being on the sex offender registry for life, not being around children under 16, and limiting her access to the internet.
During the trial, defence lawyer Harald Mattson argued his client was a victim herself having endured years of abuse in her youth.
"The judge was obviously very moved by the act and not as moved by her background as I thought he would be," he said outside court.
The girl's aunt, who at one point broke down in sobs, said she didn't think the sentence was stiff enough.
"I was counting on eight years at least," said the woman, who can't be identified due to a publication ban protecting the young victim.
"Our justice system is messed up, you know," she added, criticizing how offenders can get out early on parole.
Her niece, who now lives outside Hamilton with her biological father, has received some counselling.
"She's a good little girl."
In August, DaSilva, who admitted to travelling twice from Waterloo to sexually assault the girl, was sentenced to eight years in prison.
In December 2016, John Gallagher, 50, of Hamilton, was sentenced to three years and seven months for possessing and making child pornography.
The mother's ex-boyfriend, 35, has pleaded guilty to sexual interference, making child pornography and possessing child pornography. The man, whose identity is also covered by the ban, will see his case resume Jan. 26.
Another man in his 30s is charged with sexual interference and making child pornography. A trial date for the man, also covered by the ban, hasn't been set yet.

FEMALE RAPISTS 22 17 dicembre 2017

WATERTOWN — A woman from Black River pleaded guilty to four chargesthat had earned her up to life in prison following a trial in 2014.
In December 2014, Nicole E. Hargis was found guilty of 50 counts related to the sexual abuse of four children.
She was sentenced to 36 years to life in prison in February 2015, but a state appellate court overturned the ruling earlier this year.
The appellate court found that Jefferson County Court Judge Kim H. Martusewicz erred in not dismissing a prospective juror. The juror told Mrs. Hargis’ defense attorney that she “would like to hear from everyone,” including the defendant. The appellate judges wrote in their decision that the statement “cast serious doubt” on the juror’s “ability to render an impartial verdict.”
Mrs. Hargis, 34, pleaded guilty to four charges by way of an Alford plea, two counts of second-degree rape and two counts of first-degree criminal sex act.
Jefferson County District Attorney Kristyna S. Mills said that “the people believe there is enough evidence to prove the defendant guilty in the event of a retrial,” and accepted her Alford plea.
Mrs. Hargis was given two concurrent 15-year prison sentences for the criminal sex act charges and two concurrent seven-year sentences for the rape charges.
She will also be forced to register as a sex offender, and her ranking will be determined at a later unspecified date.
Also in Jefferson County Court, Tarick B. Clemons, 18, Adams Center, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree sexual abuse.
He admitted that in November 2016, in Adams, he had inappropriate contact with a 5-year-old girl. His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 14.
